Leah Kaplan is a ceramic artist based in Philadelphia who creates hand-built porcelain vessels and objects using age-old techniques such as coiling, pinching and rolling clay into slabs. Glaze is used sparingly, if at all, primarily to create a glossy contrast against matte, textured surfaces. Kaplan enjoys pushing porcelain to its brink, testing how thin and translucent it can get. With her creations, she aims to capture movement with no two pieces being identical.
