Humans Since 1982

Biography
"Their diverse and complex practice spans art, design, and technology, defying easy categorisation."
Humans Since 1982 is a Stockholm-based studio founded by Bastian Bischoff and Per Emanuelsson in 2009. Their diverse and complex practice spans art, design, and technology, defying easy categorization. They are best known for their kinetic sculptures, A Million Times and ClockClock, which subvert clocks by presenting them as art objects. These spectacular programmed choreographies draw upon natural, artistic, and mathematical pattern formations, resulting in artworks that remain in constant states of flux. They also elevate and subvert everyday objects in their wider practice, including smartphones, children's toys, and surveillance equipment, permeated with visual puns and the pursuit of obtaining the unobtainable. Their work is technical, intricate, yet immediately accessible, elevating and subverting everyday objects through visual puns and meticulous processes.
