Aleksandra Szewczuk

Aleksandra Szewczuk is a contemporary painter based in Sopot, Poland. Her contemplative abstract works on raw canvas explore the relationship between matter, memory and consciousness. Working with acrylics on unprimed fabric, she builds subtle layers that shift between transparency and opacity, presence, and absence.

Her practice is meditative and intuitive – a rhythm of layering, pausing and listening to material that transforms painting into a practice of awareness. Her work has been presented in institutional and gallery contexts across Europe and North America, including the State Art Gallery in Sopot, Art Centre – EL Gallery in Elbląg and Centre national d’exposition in Québec. Recent exhibitions include Dreams of Gdynia (2026), curated by Agata Abramowicz; a solo presentation at Veronese, Paris (2025–2026); and The Spaceless Gallery × The Curator Lab at 529 Arts Chelsea, New York (2025). Her work is held in the collection of the State Art Gallery in Sopot and in private collections across Europe and the United States. She holds an MFA in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.
