Alice Gavalet

Biography
Alice Gavalet, born in 1978, is a renowned French ceramic artist who masterfully blends textile inspirations with neo-Sottsassian forms. A graduate of prestigious Parisian art schools and a former trainee of Elisabeth Garouste, Gavalet's vibrant ceramic pieces showcase her exceptional skill as a colorist and her delight in disproportions. Her work exudes playfulness and creativity, with unique combinations of curves, bends, and overlapping glazes defining her distinctive style. Drawing inspiration from artists like Ettore Sottsass and Jean Dubuffet, as well as her daughter's drawings, Gavalet considers her often large and heavy ceramics as functional sculptures. With her art gaining recognition in exhibitions and galleries, Gavalet continues to surprise and innovate in the world of contemporary ceramics.
