Anneagma
Anne Agbadou Masson is a sculptor and ceramicist who works under the name Anneagma. Her relationship with clay is deeply intimate. Since discovering the material in 2015, she has been fascinated by its nature: a formless substance that takes shape through human action and energy—transformed radically by fire.
For Anne, clay has become a vital language. This connection to touch and the senses allows her to return to the essential—to what she calls a “forgotten instinct.”
Through introspection, she builds a bridge between the West and sub-Saharan Africa, delving into the terrain of genetic memory. Drawing on her mixed heritage, she creates singular pieces that feel as though they have emerged from ancient times or deep within the self. Her highly detailed figures, combining ancestral craftsmanship with a contemporary gaze, demand exceptional technical mastery and result in a powerful, evocative body of work.
These creations, known as Migrants' Objects, seem to speak—reminding us of stories that must not be forgotten.
