Nicolas Seurot
After training at an art school, Nicolas Seurot began his career as an advertising creative and later became a photographer. His experience as an artistic and creative director shaped his deep appreciation for images and storytelling. Having spent much of his life conceptualizing ideas for others, Seurot now channels his creativity into expressing his own sensitivity and telling more personal, authentic stories.
Seurot's photographic approach is profoundly influenced by his love for classical and romantic painting. The unique, painterly quality of his images captures both the beauty of spaces and the passage of time, drawing viewers into a timeless, immersive experience.
He has published several photobooks, including Westland (Atteret, 2020), a series created while traveling through the American West; Les Confinés (Atteret, 2021), an intimate collection of portraits taken in friends' homes during the spring 2020 lockdown; and Le Bassin Romantique (self-published, 2021), which explores the Bassin d'Arcachon near Bordeaux. For this series, Seurot used a technique that gives his photographs the appearance of paintings, reflecting another of his passions.
