Grant Levy-Lucero
Grant Levy-Lucero lives and works in Los Angeles, creating sculptures inspired by Pop art. Drawing from hand-painted signs and advertisements, he is best known for adorning his vessels with recognizable brand iconography, featuring logos from snacks, dog food, beer, and other familiar products. Using a traditional coiling technique, he rolls long, snake-like shapes of clay and layers them to form vases. He then paints vibrant imagery onto the textured surfaces with bright gloss paint, enhancing the tactile quality of the clay.
Levy-Lucero’s art is rooted in accessibility and connection. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a child or a hundred years old – there’s something that I want people to interact with,” he explains.
Since his first solo exhibition at Henry Taylor’s space in Los Angeles in 2016, Levy-Lucero has exhibited in major cities including New York, Paris, Shanghai, Seoul, and Los Angeles. He has also collaborated with luxury brands to explore the idea of “non-function” in his cherished objects. Notably, he worked with Acne Studios on the 2021 Fall/Winter collection as well as the 2019 Grant Levy-Lucero x Acne Studios collaboration.
