Aurelie Hoegy

Biography

Aurélie Hoegy's sculptural creations blur the boundaries between function and movement, transforming natural materials into dynamic, living forms. At first glance, her works appear wild—capturing the fluidity of hair in motion and the raw energy of nature. Yet beneath this organic spontaneity lies meticulous craftsmanship, where innovative yarns are twisted into sculptural chairs and natural fibers are shaped into sweeping, functional forms.

Rooted in deep research and collaboration, Hoegy explores themes of craftsmanship, hybridity, and material vitality. From her Parisian atelier, she travels globally-learning rattan weaving from masters in Bali, experimenting with natural dyes and indigenous fibers in Mexico, and collaborating on projects that merge tradition with contemporary design. Her functional works challenge both physical and psychological perceptions of space, bringing inanimate materials to life in a way that feels almost sensorial—breathing, purring, and moving with an energy of their own.
