Meet the woman behind The Spaceless Gallery / "The gallery going against the grain"
The Spaceless Gallery is going against the grain, creating an accessible environment for art and artists through a series of experiential exhibitions in pop-up locations

Tell us a bit more about the idea behind The Spaceless Gallery.
The Spaceless Gallery is founded on the egalitarian principle that art should be available wherever people are without restriction. Operating through a circuit of innovative pop-up locations and re- jecting the rigidity of the traditional white box, the gallery instead opts for the freedom of the network: decentralized and therefore liberated.
When did you start this project and what inspired you to create it?
The Spaceless Gallery started less than a year ago. The idea initially came from an artist friend, Hugh Arnold, who was looking for someone who could represent him as an agent for his work. Jumping onto this exciting opportunity, I not only became Arnold's agent, but continued to take on more artists. I believe in each and every one of my artists and in turn, they put their trust in me. This was a huge encouragement for me to pursue and I took a big leap to create a community for my artists and into the fierce world of gallery owners.
Who are the artists you represent and how do you work with them for The Spaceless Gallery?
For The Spaceless Gallery, it is important above all that our artists feel like they belong. The artists I chose to work with are very different, but what ties them together is poetry. Lara Porzak uses analog photography to capture the simple and powerful beauty that can be found in nature. She has become the best (not so) kept secret for all of Hollywood and New York collectors. Hugh Findletar, is an amazing storyteller who is well-known in the fashion industry, being commissioned by famous designers like Missoni or Dolce & Gabbana to create uniquely striking portrait glass vases (FLOWERheadZ). However, for this "family" to grow it was important to embrace young and very talented artists like Natalia Poniatowska, a photographer based in Poland who captures the simple beauty of middle-class life. In addition, the gallery also represents Noémie Lacroix, a textile designer and tapestry maker who knows how to create immersive experiences transporting us into her magical abstract silk gardens. I have only mentioned a few of the artists you will find at The Spaceless gallery and I invite you to read more into each one of their stories.
The Spaceless Gallery goes against the 'traditional white box' structure. What are the benefits and limitations of using pop-up locations for your exhibitions?
We pride ourselves as being in a way, a nomadic gallery, with the aim of being able to present and share our artists in different cities all around the world. Rather than conforming the artists and their works to the unchanging walls of a permanent space - limited to those who visit the location that we are in - we hope to provide an everchanging experience for our artists as their work intertwines with the vibrant nature of their surroundings and location. Likewise for our audience, we hope to inspire and attract more than just art-lovers as we temporarily become come part of their surrounding landscape, injecting change and bringing appreciation for the arts to the people. There are no limitations in art and in the same way, using only pop-up spaces for our exhibitions cannot be considered a limitation, but an opportunity to change the way we view art.

La Spaceless Gallery est fondée sur le principe égalitaire selon lequel l'art devrait être accessible partout, sans restriction. Opérant par le biais d'un circuit de lieux pop-up innovants et rejetant la rigidité de la boîte blanche traditionnelle, la galerie opte plutôt pour la liberté du réseau : décentralisée et donc libérée.
Quand avez-vous commencé ce projet et qu'est-ce qui vous a poussé à le créer ?
La Spaceless Gallery a vu le jour il y a moins d'un an. L'idée est venue d'un ami artiste, Hugh Arnold, qui cherchait quelqu'un pour le représenter en tant qu'agent pour ses œuvres. J'ai saisi cette opportunité passionnante et je suis non seulement devenu l'agent d'Arnold, mais j'ai continué à accepter d'autres artistes. Je crois en chacun de mes artistes et, en retour, ils me font confiance. C'était un énorme encouragement pour moi à poursuivre et j'ai fait le grand saut pour créer une communauté pour mes artistes et entrer dans le monde féroce des galeristes.
Qui sont les artistes que vous représentez et comment travaillez-vous avec eux pour The Spaceless Gallery ?
Pour The Spaceless Gallery, il est avant tout important que nos artistes aient un sentiment d'appartenance. Les artistes avec lesquels j'ai choisi de travailler sont très différents, mais ce qui les unit, c'est la poésie. Lara Porzak utilise la photographie analogique pour capturer la beauté simple et puissante que l'on peut trouver dans la nature. Elle est devenue le secret le mieux (pas si) gardé de tout Hollywood et des collectionneurs de New York. Hugh Findletar est un conteur extraordinaire, bien connu dans l'industrie de la mode, qui a été chargé par des créateurs célèbres tels que Missoni ou Dolce & Gabbana de créer des vases en verre à portrait unique (FLOWERheadZ). Cependant, pour que cette "famille" s'agrandisse, il était important d'accueillir des artistes jeunes et très talentueux comme Natalia Poniatowska, une photographe basée en Pologne qui capture la beauté simple de la vie de la classe moyenne. En outre, la galerie représente également Noémie Lacroix, une créatrice de textiles et de tapisseries qui sait créer des expériences immersives nous transportant dans ses jardins de soie abstraits et magiques. La Spaceless Gallery va à l'encontre de la structure traditionnelle du "white cube". Quels sont les avantages et les limites de l'utilisation de lieux pop-up pour vos expositions ?
Nous sommes fiers d'être en quelque sorte une galerie nomade, avec pour objectif de pouvoir présenter et partager nos artistes dans différentes villes du monde. Plutôt que de conformer les artistes et leurs œuvres aux murs immuables d'un espace permanent - limité à ceux qui visitent le lieu où nous nous trouvons - nous espérons offrir une expérience en constante évolution à nos artistes, car leur travail s'entrelace avec la nature vibrante de leur environnement et de leur lieu. De même, pour notre public, nous espérons inspirer et attirer plus que de simples amateurs d'art en devenant temporairement une partie du paysage environnant, en apportant du changement et en faisant apprécier les arts aux gens. Il n'y a pas de limites dans l'art et de la même manière, utiliser uniquement des espaces pop-up pour nos expositions ne peut pas être considéré comme une limite, mais comme une opportunité de changer notre façon de voir l'art.
