aurèce vettier, an art project founded in 2009 by Paul Mouginot (b. 1990), derives its alias from an algorithm to highlight its unique artistic identity with a collaborative, hybrid approach. Bespoke AI models, based on large volumes of intimate data, are used to bring new forms into being. These ideas then become reality through collaboration with expert craftsmen. His work offers a glimpse into a potential realm that explores the convergence of nature and technology with unparalleled beauty.
His work at Bergdorf Goodman, created in collaboration with designer Katarzyna Cichy, introduces animals for the first time: intricately designed chrysalises and butterflies. These sculptures are hand-sculpted from precious metals and gemstones. Their wings are detailed with prints generated by AI from butterfly images.
Each of these extraordinary sculptures is a unique, ultra-contemporary blend of “métiers d’art”, precious materials and cutting-edge technology, messengers of hope from another world resonating with our own.
