Language Group: Anmatyerre
Abie is an Eastern Anmatyerre woman from the Utopia Region in Central Australia. She was born 25th February 1972 on Utopia Station. Her father is Ray Loy Pula and her mother Margaret Loy. Abie’s husband, Terry Rumble Petyarre passed away in 2004.

Abie grew up surrounded by famous female relatives including the Petyarre Sisters and the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye. Her uncles Louie and Cowboy Pula are also known for their artistic abilities. Abie commenced painting in the early 1990’s under the tutelage of her grandmother Kathleen Petyarre. Abie’s great grandmother Maggie Pwerle (c1910 – 2004) was the full blood sister to another well know artist Minnie Pwerle (c1920 – 2005).
Lyentye – Mosquito Bore is Abie’s traditional/father’s country approximately 270 kms north east of Alice Springs and it is with this country that her stories belong. The designs in her paintings depict elements of the Bush Hen Dreaming. Abie also paints the Bush Leaf and Awelye – Women’s Ceremony. Abie presently lives at Lake Nash with her grandmother Kathleen Petyarre returning occasionally to visit with her family in Alice Springs and Utopia.
