Sophie Kitching is a renowned French-British artist born on the Isle of Wight and based in New York. Merging nature and architecture, Kitching explores landscape as an active medium, shaped by memory and movement. Her paintings build spaces that invite the viewer into a physical and sensory experience with depth, surface, and scale. Her compositions move between gestural brushwork and raw material structure, where the the constructed and the organic coexist.
Sophie Kitching graduated from the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. She has exhibited globally and has prestigious collaborations with luxury brands such as Maison Ruinart and BVLGARI. Her accolades include artist residencies in France, the US, and JOALI Maldives, institutional solo and group exhibits, designing sets for the Ballet of the Opéra national du Capitole in France, as well as the publication of a monographic catalogue.
