Thomas Engelhart
Thomas Engelhart is an artist and designer creating unique, handcrafted decorative objects that bridge art and design. From sculptural mirrors to textiles and bespoke commissions for private clients, his work moves seamlessly between disciplines, balancing precision with poetic materiality.
Originally trained in fashion design in Paris, Engelhart began his career as a clothing designer, developing a deeply hands-on practice rooted in draping, sewing, and material experimentation. This tactile approach led him to collaborate with illustrious maisons such as Thierry Mugler and Hermès, contributing to ready-to-wear collections. He also launched his own eponymous label, distributed internationally. Most recently, he collaborated with Hermès on the Fall/Winter 2026 collection, creating fabric prints derived from his hand-painted marbled papers.
In 2020, Engelhart shifted his focus from garment construction to paper and pigment, founding Marble Paper Scissors. What began as small objects wrapped in his handmade marbled papers evolved organically into large-scale mirrors, textiles, and furniture pieces. Through this practice, he reimagines the ancient art of paper marbling as a contemporary decorative language.
Today, Engelhart continues to move between fashion and art, maintaining a multidisciplinary practice grounded in craftsmanship, surface, and transformation.
