Louis Barthélemy
"Everything worthwhile follows: trust in fate, belief in friendship, an instinct for kindness, and an appreciation of beauty. I try to embed this lesson in everything I make"
Louis Barthélemy is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based between Marrakech, Cairo, and Paris. His work is deeply rooted in the preservation and revival of traditional crafts, collaborating with artisans across the world to safeguard their heritage and pass on their precious crafts.
Originally trained in fashion at Central Saint Martins, Barthélemy designed prints and scarves for Dior, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Gucci before shifting his focus toward a more human-centered artistic practice. In doing so, he established himself in Marrakech, a city whose gentle energy he admires, and began to travel the world in earnest.
Inspired by Egyptian culture and craftsmanship, he has fostered collaborations with artisans in Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and beyond. His work has been exhibited at IFAN - Théodore Monod Museum in Dakar, the Museum of Cotton in Cairo, 1-54 at Somerset House in London, and the Doha Arab Design Biennial, among others.
